Radiographic Techniques in Diagnosis and Management

1987
A variety of radiographic techniques have been applied to the diagnosis and the clinical management of gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). Some, like amniography, are now rarely used; others, like arteriography, continue to find application in the detection of locally invasive GTD. In addition, newer techniques are being evaluated, including computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The most widely used radiographic technique in the diagnosis of hydatidiform mole is ultrasonography. When used in conjunction with serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG1) determinations, its accuracy approaches 90%1.
