Computational modelling of flow bypass effects on straight fin heat sink in rectangular duct

1996
Flow bypass effects of straight fin heat sink inside a rectangular duct is studied using computational fluid dynamics techniques. Computation accuracy is verified by comparing with experimental of a test problem. Both tip clearance and spanwise spacing dimensions are varied to examine the flow bypass effects on thermal resistances and pressure drops. Averaged local velocity and heat transfer coefficient distributions along the fin length are also examined to study the flow and thermal characteristic details.
