Scientific Inquiry in Introductory Physics

Physics teachers must have a thorough understanding of scientific inquiry so that they come to value it, are more likely to practice it properly, and understand how to help students achieve a higher degree of scientific literacy. Teachers and students often resist the use of scientific inquiry because it can require more time and effort. However, the explicit incorporation of scientific inquiry helps to demonstrate authentic practices of scientists and the historical advancement of scientific knowledge.
