Numerical Investigation of Supersonic Reacting Hydrogen Jets in a Hot Air Coflow

2001
The research project JAPHAR associated to air-breathing hypersonic propulsion, founded on a collaboration between DLR and ONERA gives a significant part to the numerical simulation of turbulent reactive flows and in scramjet combustion chambers. Under these conditions of high speed reactive flows, the theoretical approaches usually considered in order to describe the turbulence, the mixing of chemical species and the development of the combustion process, are often inadapted. Studies were thus undertaken within the frame-work of the JAPHAR program in order to improve the physico-chemical modeling in the field of high speed reacting flows.
