Screening for infection of TORCH pathogens in preemies using nested PCR.

2010
Objective To determine the state of HCMV,TOX,HBV,HSV-1,HSV-2,RV,and CVB3 infection in premature infants. Methods Nested PCR was used to examine the nucleic acids of seven kinds of pathogens in 122 premature infants and 75 normal newborns. Results The infection rates of HCMV,TOX,HBV,HSV-1,HSV-2,RV,and CVB3 in premature infants were respectively 63.9%,3.3%,9.8%,4.9%,2 6.6%,3.3%,and 23.8%.The infection rates of HCMV,HBV,HSV-2,and CVB3 in premature infants were significantly higher than 29.3%,1.3%,0%,and 0% of normal neonates(P0.05).Conclusion HCMV,HBV,HSV-2,and CVB3 infection are a risk factor in premature infants.
