Sünnet Öncesi Uygulanan Lokal Prilokaine Bağli Gelişen Bir Methemoglobinemi Olgusu A Case of Methemoglobinemia Developing Due to Local Prilocaine Usage Prior to Circumcision

2013
Methemoglobinemia is a disorder characterized by the presence of a higher than normal level of ferric (Fe +3 ) rarer man ferrous (Fe +2 ) hemoglobin. It may be in two forms, congenital or acquired methemoglobinemia. It is known that many agents can cause acquired methemoglobinemia. If the blood methemoglobin level reaches 55%, it can be lethal. Prompt care is needed in this situation. Here, a 4-month-old boy with acquired methemoglobinemia due to prilocaine use is presented. Methylene blue was used in the treatment of this case. The treatment enabled a dramatic improvement and was life saving.
