A new desensitizing dentifrice: preliminary report

1977
The desensitizing effect of a 2% dibasic sodium citrate pluronic F-127 gel formulation was compared with four other dentifrices over a six-week period. The clinical study compared the desensitizing effect of a flavored 2% dibasic sodium citrate pluronic F-127 gel and a pluronic F-127 preparation, to a commercially available stannous fluoride (0.4%) glycerol gel and a 10% strontium chloride dentifrice. The number of sensitive surfaces of those participants using the pluronic gels was significantly lower than those observed in the control group. Patients using the stannous-fluoride or the strontium chloride dentifrices did not exhibit a significant improvement over the control group.
