REMOVAL OF SUPERNUMERARY TEETH WITH ORTHODONTIC TRACTION ASSOCIATION IN A PEDIATRIC PATIENT

2020
The mesiodens is considered the most common supernumerary tooth, characterized by being mainly in the anterior region of the maxilla, between the upper central incisors. This alteration is more prevalent in the permanent dentition, and most of the time it is impacted. A 9-year-old female patient sought dental care complaining of delayed eruption of the upper anterior teeth. On the intraoral physical examination, it was possible to observe the absence of units 11 and 21, with volume increased in the region of 11. The image examination revealed the presence of 2 supernumerary units located between the maxillary central incisors and at the tooth height 12, with consequent impairment of the 11 and 21 eruption trajectory. The treatment was done by means of surgical extraction of the supernumerary, with immediate installation of orthodontic buds for traction of the central incisors. The patient is under follow-up until the present day.
