Fundamentals and properties of multifunctional graphene and graphene-based nanomaterials

2021
Abstract Graphene has been proved to be a unique and multifunctional nanomaterial among other carbon nanomaterials since its invention owing to its unprecedented physical, chemical, and electrical properties; these make graphene a wonderful material. In this review, various synthesis strategies of graphene and graphene-based nanomaterials are described along with their structural and physical properties. Moreover, we emphasize the importance of their structural features concerning numerous emerging implications such as field effect transistors, energy storage devices (batteries and capacitors), reinforcement in polymers, and sensors, which have received significant attention from scientific communities worldwide. Current challenges and future perspectives associated with graphene and graphene-based nanomaterials are also thoroughly addressed at the end of the review.
