PRODUCING THE SYSTEM SPECIFICATION FOR UK MOTORWAY TOLLING

Early in 1994, following the UK Government's consultation paper “Paying for Better Motorways”, the Department of Transport launched a major programme of research, development and trials to identify the capabilities of existing technology and to draw up a specification for a fully electronic motorway charging system.
