Das ‘Ding an sich’: Ja oder nein? Kritische Bemerkungen zum Verhältnis Immanuel Kants und Dietrich von Hildebrands

Der bekannte Unterschied zwischen der Kantischen Erkenntnistheorie und der Christlichen Philosophie in der Tradition von Aristoteles und Thomas von Aquin besteht in der Frage: Was ist das Ding an sich? Kann es erkannt werden: ja (Aristoteles/Thomas) oder nein (Kant). Der Essay versucht, Elemente herauszuarbeiten, die einen Hinweis geben auf eine Synthese zwischen den zwei Positionen, indem zentrale Aspekte der Erkenntnistheorie Dietrich von Hildebrands auf der einen Seite und epistemologische Aspekte bei Kant auf der anderen Seite diskutiert werden. Bezugnehmend auf die Frage, worin die Realitat der Dinge besteht, wahrend sie produziert werden (z.B. ein Haus oder die Kantische Zeit-Linie), gibt der Essay die Antwort, dass weder Dietrich von Hildebrand noch Kant die Rolle der „Poiesis“ in ihrer Erkenntnistheorie ausreichend diskutieren. Die Realitat der „Poiesis“ bietet die Moglichkeit einer Synthese zwischen Dietrich von Hildebrand und Kant. Abstract The thing in itself: yes or no. Critical remarks on the relation between Immanuel Kant and Dietrich von Hildebrand The well-known difference between the Kantian theory of knowledge and Christian Philosophy in the tradition of Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas consists of the question: What is the thing in itself? Can it be recognized: yes (Aristotle/Thomas) or no (Kant). The essay tries to work out elements which give a hint to a synthesis between the two positions by discussing central aspects of Dietrich von Hildebrands theory of knowledge on the one hand and Kantian epistemological aspects on the other hand. Focussing on the question what the reality of things is while they are being produced (e.g. a house or the Kantian time-line) the essay answers that neither Dietrich von Hildebrand nor Kant are discussing sufficiently the role of “Poiesis” in their theory of knowledge. The reality of “Poiesis” offers the possibility of a synthesis between Dietrich von Hildebrand and Kant.
