Drill bit body with stoichiometric, cemented and cast tungsten carbides

A drill bit body 26 made from a matrix powder comprising & 30 weight % stoichiometric tungsten carbide particles with mesh size 325-625, & 40 weight % cemented tungsten carbide particles with mesh size 170-625, & 60 weight %, cast tungsten carbide particles with mesh size 60-325 and optionally nickel, cobalt, iron or alloys thereof. The bit body also comprises an infiltration binder of copper, nickel or alloys thereof. After formation of the bit body it has an erosion rate of less than 0.001 in/hr, a toughness of greater than 20 ksi(in ), and a transverse rupture strength of greater than 140 ksi. Cutting elements 32 are supported in the body 26.
