Impacts of Electric Vehicles on Power Grid Considering Time Series of TOU

2014
As large amounts of EVs connect to power grid, in the future, this paper proposes the optional mode of TOU (Time-of-use) shift the load of EVs to relief the burden of power grid.Analyzing the users' habits without control, this paper establishes single-user and multiple-users charging mode. Simulated by Monte Carlo method, the load with EV and the peak-vally difference will be aggregated. Therefore, EVs' charge-discharge load model considering TOU is proposed. To minimize the peak-vally difference, the paper introduce genetic algorithm to achieve the optimal time series of TOU strategy. Lastly, the numerical example demonstrates the molds in this paper. With oil resource being exhausted and global warming issue continuously increasing, people have actively begun looking for the substitute for traditional vehicle. The development of the green car, especially EV (electric vehicle), has attracted much attention because of its great advantage in energy-saving and emission-reduction. As a kind of power load, Electric vehicle charging load related to users' habits are random and intermittent. It is estimated that by 2050 the amount of EVs in China will reach 200 million, while the total charging load will be up to 330 mil-lion kilowatts. With such a considerable capability, the EVs in China large-scale will produce a negligible impact on the planning and operation of power system. The calculation of EVs charging, basis for analyzing impacts of electric cars on the grid, has important implications for power system planning and operation. In China, electricity market is not so widespread yet. For a long period of time, time-of-use (TOU) price will be an important DSM (Demand Side Management) method as a supplement of administrative strategy, which could stimulate and encourage the EVs to change the charging behaviors. It is foreseeable that TOU will play a significant role in balancing power supply and demand or load shifting. Thereby Scholars envisaged the possibility of feedback of electric vehicle power to grid in the period of power shortage to meet the needs of power grid. To achieve the above vision, we need help V2G technology. V2G
