Economic analysis of electronics waste materials: A region based study

2021
Abstract Effective electronic waste (E-Waste) management is necessary for maintaining the green environment. The process of recycling of e-waste material is a common practice in green manufacturing as it can enhance the productivity of an organization. In present work, the economic analysis of e-waste materials such as silver, aluminium, copper, plastic etc. is presented to justify the need of e-waste management in the current scenario. The amount of material recovery per product from common electronic equipment is discussed and it has been noticed that the highest recovery of ferrous and plastic material can be received from the refrigerator. The highest recovery of silver and copper can be received from a computer and air-conditioner respectively. A questionnaire based study was performed to gather the information of discarded electronic equipment. The approximate revenue which can be generated from E-waste from three states viz. Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh of India are presented. The results showed that maximum revenue from E-waste can be generated in Punjab and followed by Haryana.
