Modeling, Simulation and Decoupling Control of Resistance Furnace Using MATLAB and Simulink

The resistance furnace has the characteristics of nonlinear, pure time delay, large inertia, strong coupling, so the decoupling experiment of resistance furnace control system is studied. The mathematical model of resistance furnace was created using the soaring curve method. The system is decoupled by feedforward decoupling method of improved Smith predictive compensation PID using MATLAB. Through the simulation result shows that it can eliminate the coupling between the two temperature ranges well, each temperature can track a given value without difference. Improved Smith predictive compensation PID parameter tuning has better effect than traditional PID tuning, smaller overshoot and faster settling time. When the model mismatches, the stability of the system can be improved. Besides, it has the capacity of resisting disturbance.
