Knowledge, Attitude and Practice toward Infant Oral Healthcare among the Pediatricians of Mysore: A Questionnaire Survey.

Background: The aim of this study was to study the knowledge,attitude and practice of the pediatricians toward infant oralhealthcare and the objective was to determine what canimprove the knowledge, attitude and practice toward infantoral healthcare.Materials and methods: A systematic random survey ofpediatricians in Mysore received a questionnaire pertaining toindividual details, knowledge level and approach toward infantoral healthcare.Results: Most of pediatricians acknowledged the importance ofpediatric dentistry. Pediatricians agree that it is important to dodental examination before 1 year. The importance of initiatingoral hygiene practice before the eruption of first tooth was notseen to be prevalent among the pediatricians. Most of themwere less aware of the .rst dental visit including early childhoodcaries (ECC). All pediatricians agree that both medical anddental professionals together are responsible for infant oralhealthcare. They should work together to appropriately educateand train themselves to be able to provide risk assessment andto provide preventive oral health services.
