Non-Mo-based catalytic desulfurization
1993
The predominant procedure to desulfurization is conventional HDS with sulfided Mo-based catalysts. In this paper, the authors examine some alternative approaches to desulfurization, which do not involve competing ring hydrogenation, i.e., (A) protonic acid-catalyzed hydrogenolysis of C-S bonds, without attendant ring hydrogenation ; (B) base-catalyzed hydrolysis of thioetheric groups ; and (C) aquathermolysis of C-S bonds in the absence of hydrogen.
