Voltage and Frequency Control of PV, Micro-hydro and Biomass Based Islanded Microgrid

The environment friendly technology is making the renewable energy sources like micro-hydro, photovoltaic (PV) and biomass to grow rapidly. Another advantage of have these renewables is the convenient and cost effective installation at remote sites with no or limited access to the grid electricity. This paper presents a modeling based methodology for interconnected power system scheme having PV, micro-hydro and biomass generatiuon systems with control unit to maintain a constant frequency and voltage. The distributed control scheme is applied to control the frequency and voltage. Furthermore, this paper also investigated the dynamic performance of micro-hydro and PV after the occurrence of transient disturbances due to a quick change in electric load.
