Nigeria: The Giant of Africa

2017
This chapter provides a short introduction to the history of Nigeria and its culture. It defines what Islamic law is, why it has different shades of meaning and how it developed from its origin in the 1800s until today. It concludes by pointing out that the application of Islamic law is not new and that Nigeria operates three legal systems: common law, Islamic law and native law.
