Horto didático da UTFPR campus Pato Branco: unidade demonstrativa de plantas alimentícias não convencionais

Over the years, the introduction of new production technologies aimed at high production ofmore profitable and guaranteed market food, the farmer has neglected the cultivation of numerousvegetable species. The extinction of these species is characterized as a cultural lossto the regional community, as well as losses in the variability of feeding of these families inthe nutritional point of view. In order to do so, the UTFPR Educational Garden seeks to rescuespecies of non-conventional food plants, as well as to serve as a bank, distribution and disseminationof these species, presenting them to the community, in order to integrate a subsistencediet, combining nutritional variability of the community Regional level, making possiblealternatives for family farmers in the Pato Branco-PR region. Integrated to this, the project stillconsists of production based on agroecological sustainability, respecting its agricultural practicesin order to preserve and recover biodiversity.
