Japanese Lesson Study

After attending the Primary Mathematics Professional Learning program (a 3-day Professional Development Program organised by the Department of Education Early Childhood Development) we were inspired to try the 'Japanese Lesson Study' format. A key element of the Lesson Study model involves a group of teachers working together to develop lesson plans that are then observed, analysed and revised. Throughout this process the teachers focus on making their lessons more effective as a means of improving students' thinking.
