Effects of process parameters on viscosity and gel time of TiO_2

With Ti(OBu)4 as alkoxide precursor,sol-gel transition of TiO2 sol was studied to obtain steady TiO2 sol.The influence of different reaction conditions on viscosity and gel time was investigated,and the mechanism of sol-gel process was also researched.Experimental results show that the acetylacetone can greatly improve the stability of the sols and prolonging the gel time.The optimum preparation conditions are as follows: the molar ratio of acetylacetone to Ti(OBu)4 is 1,Ti(OBu)4 to water is 1,and alcohol to Ti(OBu)4 is 4,and the pH value of the solution is about 2.
