A Study on Traditional Agriculture: Traditional Technical Knowledge

Traditional Agriculture can be defined as an ancient style of farming that involves the demanding use of indigenous knowledge, traditional tools, natural resources, organic fertilizer and cultural beliefs of the farmers. It is noteworthy that it is still used by about 50% of the world population. Generational traditional knowledge of agriculture has been used by human beings in varied agro-ecological zone. These specific traditional agricultural practices of specific agro-ecological zone and its imperatives for the livelihood pattern get more vibrantly reflected in the agriculture sector of the indigenous population of Tamil Nadu. Agriculture is therefore a major determinant of the geography of Tamil Nadu and deserves our close attention in outcome.
