Study on oxidative protein damage in diabetic nephropathy

2009
Objective: To study oxidative protein damage in diabetic nephropathy patients through determination of serum AOPPs and PCO levels. Methods: Diabetic patients were divided into three groups according to 24h urinary albumin determination, serum AOPPs and PCO levels of these patients and normal controls were measured. Results: Serum AOPPs and PCO levels were significantly higher in diabetic patients(DM,DN1,DN2) than those in the controls, and the levels became significantly higher as nephropathy developed(P0.05).Conclusion: Oxidative protein damage increases in diabetic patients, and becomes more serious when complicated with nephropathy, and more products of oxidative protein damage are accumulated simultaneously.
