Nonverbal Interventions with Infants and Their Parents
1998
Infants under one year of age rely on non-verbal communication for learning and living. This article describes nonverbal interventions given to improve communication between parents and their babies, through a series of workshops based on learning-by-doing methods of teaching and the use of guided activities in ten parenting skills areas. Among mental health professionals, dance therapists are uniquely qualified through their training and experience to provide this service and may want to expand their practices to include it.
