Single-component gold(I)-containing highly white-emissive crystals based on a polymorph doping strategy

Compared to multicomponent white light-emitting sources, a single-component luminophor of direct white-light emission may greatly simplify the manufacture of lighting devices and produce white light with better stability and reproducibility. On the other hand, the crystallization of luminescent materials commonly weakens their luminous efficiency. Therefore, scientific researchers have to fabricate amorphous films while constructing light-emitting diodes, although it is a truism that the crystalline films exhibit higher charge mobilities. In this work, A novel mononuclear gold(I) phosphor is reported, consisting of single-component white-emissive crystals, which exhibit bright phosphorescence at room temperature and have an outstanding luminescence quantum yield of up to 88.2%. Ideal mixing of blue luminescence and green luminescence affords a high-efficiency white luminescence.
