Numerical analysis of two tube helical heat exchanger using various nano-fluids

Abstract The study conducts analysis of the impact of nano-fluids in improving heat transfer. These nano-fluids contain nanoparticles (Ag, TiO2, Al2O3, Cu, Fe, and Au) volume fraction ranging between 2% to 8%. Three dimensional numerical analysis has been carried on a double tube helical heat exchanger using ANSYS Fluent Software. Suitable 3-D equations are solved employing SIMPLE algorithm and discretized using Finite Volume Method. The results show that there will be an increase in heat transfer rate as the nanoparticle volume intensity increases. Further, from the present study it is clear that Au-H2O nano-fluid yields favourable results in comparison to other nano-fluids.
