Clinical features of different subtypes of esophageal achalasia

Esophageal achalasia is a rare digestive disease. The pathogenesis of achalasia is still elusive. The main symptoms of achalasia are dysphagia, regurgitation, chest pain and weight loss. Three subtypes are defined in the Chicago Classification 3.0, and each subtype has unique clinical features and treatment consideration. This article will review the clinical features of three subtypes of esophageal achalasia. Key words: Esophageal achalasia; Esophagogastric junction; Diagnosis; Therapy
