Prosthetic Materials for Robot-Assisted Hernia Repair

This chapter outlines the numerous materials that are available for the repair of inguinal, ventral and other types of hernias. This includes biological, synthetic, absorbable and hybrid prosthetic products. It also discusses several fixation devices that are available. There are several that are commonly used in the robotic assisted repair of hernias and therefore are better known than the ones used in smaller volumes. This chapter details the important characteristics of these meshes and fixation devices.
