Objective To retrospective analyze the clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis of COVID-19, and to provide a reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment for frontline clinicians Methods Total of 278 patients with COVID-19 admitted to Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital from January 20 to February 10, 2020 were selected as the subjects The general demographic data, epidemiological data, basic diseases data, clinical symptoms, laboratory examination, lung CT image data, treatment and prognosis of the patients were analyzed Results There were 130 male patients (46 8%) and 148 female patients (53 2%) with an average age of (48 1±17 0) years 84 9% of the patients were complicated with basic diseases 211 cases (75 9%) were common type, and the in-hospital mortality was 0 4% (1/ 278) 88 8% of patients aged 20-69 years, the main source of cases was 201 cases (72 3%) of imported cases, of which Wuhan imported 89 cases accounted for 44 3% of all imported cases The most common clinical manifestations were fever (70 9%) and dry cough (61 5%) In some patients, hemoglobin (10 4%) and platelets (12 6%) were decreased, albumin level was decreased in 55 4%, liver function (ALT, AST) and renal function (creatinine, urea nitrogen) were not abnormal 61 patients (21 9%), 26 patients (9 4%) had increased LDH and CK, 52 patients (18 7%), 140 patients (50 4%) had prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time and elevated D-dimer, while 117 patients (42 1%) had elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein Typical CT manifestations are as follows: single or multiple ground glass shadows and obvious extrapulmonary zone on chest image in early stage of the disease;ground glass shadows, infiltrative shadows or consolidation shadows with increased focus and enlarged range in progressive stage;diffuse consolidation with multiple patchy density in severe / critical stage of the disease, and "white lung" in a few patients 242 patients (87 1%) received at least one or more antiviral therapy, 242 patients (87 1%) used antibacterials, 191 patients (68 7%) received oxygen therapy and 198 patients (71 2%) were treated with traditional Chinese medicine Conclusion Covid-19 has morbidity in all age groups, no gender difference was found, and it is mainly common type, with low mortality rate, frequently combined with multi system, multi organ abnormality or damage We should pay close attention to the progress of the disease, timely study the disease change, adjust the treatment plan, and strive to improve the success rate of treatment
