Flow of Guineal River Within the Framework of Local Energy Development

2018
Although currently, more than 70% of the energy generated in Ecuador is of hydraulic origin, in the province of Manabi the source of basic generation is still thermal, with a high cost of kWh generated and with high rates of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. However, in the territory of the province, several rivers can provide potential water energy that has could use in the generation of electricity. The work shows the results of the analysis of the Guineal River's energy potential, which has was carried out by applying the study of the river flow in 18 sampling points that are close to rural communities where the quality of the electric service has deficiencies. The results obtained were presented in tables that have can be used to generate projects aimed at introducing electricity generation technology, constituting a local development solution to the energy problem.
