Fotografia i història de l’educació: deu anys de recerca en el Grup d’Estudis d’Història de l’Educació de la UIB

Since 2007, the History of Education Study Group at the University of the Balearic Islands has worked on studying and using photography as a source of historical-educational information. Within this line of research, we have carried out various projects that have produced interesting results, both with respect to the history of education as well as historiography. Rather than serving as mere illustrations, we have come up with new models for interpreting images as sources of historical information. So that the reader can have a better idea of the contributions that the History of Education Study Group has made, we provide details, in this research report, on the projects that we carried out between 2007 and 2017, the objectives behind the projects, the results that were obtained in the form of publications, and the actions that were taken regarding finding, conserving, and disseminating the photographs as sources of information on the history of education and as highly valuable pieces of heritage.
