Preparation of paraaminophenol

PURPOSE: To prepare new p-aminophenol, in such a manner that production of by-product can be suppressed at a minimum without an auxiliary additive. CONSTITUTION: An optionally substd. p-aminophenol which is associated optionally with a p-aminophenol compd. derived via N-acylation is prepared by hydrogenating the corresponding nitrobenzene dissolved in a satd. aliphat. monocarboxylic acid in the presence of an effective amount of a protonic acid.
