Dynamic performances of a doubly-fed induction machine for a variable-speed wind energy generation

2002
This paper presents a control strategy of a doubly-fed induction machine used in generating mode (DFIG). This device is intended to be implemented in a variable-speed wind-energy conversion system connected to the grid. In order to control the active and reactive power exchanged between the machine's stator and the grid, the rotor is fed by a bi-directional variable frequency converter. The DFIG is controlled by a statespace regulator whose performances are compared with a traditional proportional-integral controller in term of robustness, reference tracking and sensibility to perturbations.
