REVISITANDO O MAPEAMENTO DE COMPETÊNCIAS: o caso das instituições académicas

2013
This communication describes the development of a conceptual model and a competence mapping process in an academic institution in the engineering field. It was intended to improve the accuracy and the comprehensiveness to satisfy the demands for intellectual assets by internal stakeholders and, especially, organization outsiders as well as studying new mapping techniques. Therefore, the conceptual model developed integrates tagging techniques and hierarchical classification of knowledge domains in the organization and classification of information about competence. In the universe of higher institutions, where information concerning teachers and researchers is organized by scientific areas, it is often difficult to find employees with specific knowledge and specialized in a particular area of knowledge or technology, so that the perception of competence ends up concentrated in employees with greater visibility, who usually stand out for academic reputation and cumulative experience. Consequently, the institution tends to take not advantage of the full potential of their intellectual assets. To provide the increased comprehensiveness in the response to the requests for specialists of a knowledge domain, the process under study facilitates the location of the more efficient teams and helps the intellectual assets search process, creates opportunities for enhancement of endogenous resources and provides a clear view of the expertise that employs, which and where they are. This study also demonstrates the classification usefulness with tags, as a supplement to structured ratings, looking at the relevance effect and weighting criteria of the concepts’s relevance to create a most qualified professionals ranking to fulfill a need. Keywords Competence mapping. Classification. Folksonomy. Information retrieval.
