Well Correlation in Complex Stratigraphic Settings with Automated Cuttings Mineralogy, an Example from West Africa

2018
Summary Automated cuttings mineralogy analysis has been applied to exploration wells located along the West African Transform Margin. In this example we show how it permitted to reveal lithological variations and stratigraphic sequences that were not visible on the traditional suite of well logs. This led to a better constrained well correlation and valuable insights into the reservoir sand continuity and distribution.
