Sliding Mode Control for Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor with Mismatched Disturbances: A Genetic-Algorithm-Optimized GESO Approach

2021
The paper develops a generalized-extended-state-observer-based sliding mode control (GESO-SMC) approach for temperature stabilization of continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) with mismatched disturbances. The generalized extended state observer (GESO) is proposed to generate the estimates of both unmeasured states and disturbances. Based on the estimated variables, the parameters of sliding mode function are designed for controller to counteract the effect of disturbances on the temperature of CSTR. Furthermore, the optimized switching gain of controller is found via using genetic algorithm (GA). Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed method exhibits satisfied disturbance rejection performance even when additional matched disturbances are also considered.
