OPERATION ABC MOBILIZATION KICKS OFF 7TH CRACKDOWN

2000
A new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that children killed in crashes involving alcohol usually are passengers of a drinking driver. Further, results of the study found that the drunker the driver and the older the child, the less likely the child is buckled up. Thus, during the week of November 20, 2000, the seventh Operation ABC Mobilization: Zero Tolerance For Unbuckled Children will be conducted. The twice-a-year campaign began in 1997 and has been credited with helping to significantly increase seat belt use in America to an all-time high of 71% in June 2000. The campaign stresses that to get children buckled up, everyone in the vehicle must wear seat belts.
