A Novel Light Harvesting System: Synthesis, Characterization, and Photophysical Properties of Covalently Porphyrin-Modified Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

We reported herein on the synthesis of covalently porphyrin-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes via in situ diazotization coupling. The product was fully characterized with Raman, FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR spectra, as well as TEM and TGA measurements. The solubility of modified SWNTs was significantly improved and the fluorescence of porphyrin was effectively quenched though electron transfer from photoexcited porphyrin to SWNTs.
