The invention relates to methods and apparatus for fast-area input of energy by applying a surface of a body with laser radiation of a laser for laser material processing. To this end having a at least two mirror surfaces moving scanner is guided by the first mirror surface, the laser radiation in a line across the surface of the body. With a deflection device, the laser radiation is deflected in the movement between the mirror planes of the scanner, so that the laser radiation is guided to the second moving mirror surface of the scanner in a further determined by the deflection of the deflector spaced line over the surface of the body. The line spacing of the line grid is so great that a different material processing behavior is prevented by the impact of previous exposure. A complete machining is performed with a repeated processing of the line raster by returning with respective shift of the nominal line spacing so that the body surface area is exposed to laser radiation.
