The tanks reservoir of drinking water are essential for thesurvival and development of a population, through its distribution to end users, these have to be functional after a seismic event and for this they are designed under seismic loads.In our country there are no regulations for the design of water reservoir tanks in the face of seismic events, therefore, the same Ecuadorian Construction Standard NEC-15 refers to using recognized foreign regulations for its design.Considering that the NEC-15 does not contain detailed procedures for the seismic revision of concrete tanks, ACI standard 350.3-06 (Seismic Design of Liquid-Containing Concrete Structures and Commentary) was chosen for concrete tanks.
