Studies on genetic variability in different genotypes of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

2009
Eighty diverse genotypes of bunch groundnut were evaluated during summer 2006 for genetic parameters viz., variability, heritability and genetic advance. The estimates of PCV and GCV were high for number of secondary branches per plant and number of aerial pegs per plant. High heritability along with high genetic advance as per cent of mean was observed for number of secondary branches per plant and number of aerial pegs per plant indicating that these traits are mainly governed by additive gene action and responsive to selection for further improvement of these triats.
