ATENDIMENTO AO PACIENTE COM CÂNCER DE BOCA EM TEMPOS DE COVID-19 NA REGIÃO DO SEMIÁRIDO BAIANO: UM ENSAIO CRÍTICO CARE TO THE PATIENT WITH ORAL CANCER IN COVID-19 TIMES IN THE REGION OF THE BAIANO SEMIARID: A CRITICAL ESSAY

Objetivo: este ensaio critico tem como objetivo discutir brevemente as questoes relacionadas ao momento de pandemia que estamos vivendo e o atendimento (ou ausencia deste) ao paciente com câncer de boca na regiao do semiarido da Bahia. Ensaio critico: a covid-19, doenca causada pelo coronavirus, tem causado mudancas consideradas drastica nas rotinas dos servicos e sistemas de saude de todo mundo. Os pacientes com doencas cronicas, a exemplo do câncer de boca, tem encontrado muitas dificuldades para o diagnostico, tratamento e acompanhamento dessas lesoes malignas. Na regiao do semiarido baiano, nao esta diferente, pois os servicos que prestam esse tipo de atendimento estao com suas atividades suspensas, sobretudo quando estes servicos estao vinculados as Instituicoes de Ensino Superior. As consequencias desse novo cenario ainda sao uma incognita e nao se sabe ao certo qual extensao isso causara na saude, vida e qualidade de vida destes individuos. Com o objetivo de reduzir os impactos negativos da paralisacao das atividades, a Teleodontologia, ferramenta tecnologica da informacao tem se mostrado eficiente em diversos locais da America Latina, inclusive no Brasil e podera servir como estrategia de enfretamento na regiao do semiarido baiano. Objective: this critical essay aims to briefly discuss issues related to the pandemic moment we are experiencing and the care (or absence of it) for patients with oral cancer in the semi-arid region of Bahia. Critical trial: covid19, a disease caused by the coronavirus, has caused changes that are considered drastic in the routines of health services and systems around the world. Patients with chronic diseases, such as oral cancer, have encountered many difficulties in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of these malignant lesions. In the semi-arid region of Bahia, it is no different, since the services that provide this type of service are suspended, especially when these services are linked to Higher Education Institutions. The consequences of this new scenario are still unknown and it is not known for sure what extent this will cause in the health, life and quality of life of these individuals. In order to reduce the negative impacts of the stoppage of activities, Teleodontology, a technological information tool it has been shown to be efficient in several places in Latin America, including Brazil and could serve as a coping strategy in the semi-arid region of Bahia.
