Enhanced power quality compensation in PV single-phase grid-tied systems

2013
This paper presents a non standard control strategy for grid-tied single phase system with power quality compensation. This system could be used for connecting renewable energy sources to microgrids feeder. Differently from the traditional techniques, this control scheme is implemented without load harmonic detection and the compensation constraints are obtained by regulating indirectly the phase current of the microgrid. The reference current of the grid-tied is generated by the dc-link voltage controller based on the system active power balance. It is aligned to the phase angle of the microgrid voltage vector, by using a phase locked loop (PLL). With this approach the active power flow is regulated together with the harmonic compensation and power factor correction at the common coupling point (PCC). Experimental results are shown for determining the effectiveness of grid-tied proposed control system.
