A Thousand Sensors, from the Blade Tip to the Bottom of the Sea

2017
The aim of the measurement service project is to carry out all the measurements, to coordinate and efficiently make the measurements needed by individual sub-projects. It thus provides the necessary service facility for all the institutes, agencies and firms involved in the overall project. The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) manages and coordinates the installation of the measuring instruments and the maintenance and support of the measurements for all the research projects, and itself carries out oceanographic and geological measurements. The focus is on the environmental parameters that impact on the offshore structures (such as sea state, wind, current and interaction with building ground) and also the construction and operation-specific parameters (such as construction and operating noise, vibration, loads and structural dynamics). After five years, the results from the measurements and charting exhibit turbine-specific characteristics and magnitudes. The results have been included in the planning of other wind farms.
