On the optimization of the shapes of short-duration acoustic pulses for solving probing problems in immersion tests

2015
A piezoelectric transducer in the form of a plate that emits into water is considered. The back side of the plate borders on the air. The influence of the shape of the acoustic pulse emitted by the transducer on the measurement accuracy of the distance to the object is studied by the calculation method. It is shown that acoustic pulses with three and five half-period durations at the resonance frequency of the transducer are optimal. The shapes of the corresponding exciting pulses of the electric voltage are presented.
