Study of Photoluminescence of CdS/ZnS Core/Shell Quantum Dots

2012
The CdS/ZnS core/shell quantum dots (QDs) are synthesized in a water-in-oil (w/o) microemulsion system (reverse micellar method). The thickness of the shell is controlled by the molar ratio of water-to-surfactant (R), and the final particle size increases with the increasing of R ratio. The optical properties of CdS/ZnS QDs at room temperature are studied through absorption spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, and the PL peak shows a strong blue shift while the R ratio decreases.
