The war of the sexes is a way of referring to the evolutionary theory of sexual choice by antagonism, which consists of the development of characteristics by females and males of the same species to ensure the success of having offspring but at the expense of one of the members of the reproductive couple. This causes one sex to have an evolutionary advantage over the other. In response to this situation, the disadvantaged member develops characteristics through which it seeks to overcome its partner's advantage, thus reversing roles. However, this generates that the new sex in disadvantage looks for to develop new characteristic to occupy of account its state of advantage, which makes that the sexes enter in an armamentista race.
