Rare Primary Tumor of Chest Wall-Synovial Sarcoma

2013
Synovial sarcoma is often found in the four limbs but rarely in the chest wall. We present a case of primary synovial sarcoma of the chest wall which enrolled with 7th~10th ribs and invaded into abdomen in a 43-year-old woman. She received wide excision and reconstruction with a pedicle anterolateral thigh flap. Concurrent chemo-radiotherapy (CCRT) was performed, however the patient developed multiple organ failure due to peritoneal and lung metastasis and subsequently died in the hospital 16 months after the initial presentation. Peritoneal metastatic synovial sarcoma was confirmed by histological examination. Althoug we had done the aggressive both surgical and medical treatment, it seems the progression of chest wall synovial sarcoma was not stoped by our treatment. So we demonstrate this case and hope there will be new treatment protocol for such kind aggressive malignant tumor.
