Multi-coated metal substrate and process for its preparation

Sheet metal, including metal strip having a front side and a back side, wherein both the front and the back side having a first coating having an average thickness in the range of 0.5 to 10 microns, wherein the first coating of the front particles which upon exposure to an acid, two release or polyvalent metal ions, contains in an amount such that a selbstabscheidendes coating agent in contact with the front thereto forms a second coating, while this is not the case for the first coating the back -. The first coating of the front panel may be over coated with an autodepositing coating composition. Cutting edges, which do not have the "first coat", can be covered with the autodepositing coating agent. To the scope of the invention also includes the corresponding coated metal sheets as well as methods for their preparation.
